Today I noticed that my phone has stopped vibrating when I receive a call or text message. I've checked that the vibration alert is still turned on in the profiles that I use, which I have checked individually, and I've restarted the phone.

Is this a common problem with the W810i or SE phones in general, or something new? I can't have a phone without vibration alert... Is it worth while opening it up and taking a look?

Anybody know the key command to get into the system maintanence/testing screen where I can test the vibration alert manually?

I have recently updated my firmware, so I'd not have thought it was that. It's not a hardware bug. I did the Service Test to check the vibrating, and it vibrated as it should. Done a test call to see if the phone vibrates and it is now working fine again. How long it will last I don't know.

Thanks

I bet it's a problem with the vibra unit not making proper contact with the phone's mainboard.

If you take the phone apart, the vibra unit is located in the mid-chassis of the phone - carefully bend it's contact prongs up a bit so it will make proper contact with the mainboard. Might be worthwhile cleaning out all the crap and crud that's probably accumulated in there too, you'd be surprised how much dust and dirt gathers in the internals of a phone!
