T9 on p800 |

I have noticed that owners of the p800 say, that there is no T9 on the p800...
Won't it be possible to find a program - maybe by SE themselves - to solve this problem?

Since T9 is patented, dunno if this could come as a free enhancement...

Could SE put T9 in a later software upgrade?

Sony has developed a better version of T9... part of it's functions are on the T68i ... it guesses the word, AHEAD of what you're typing... alsl known as the 'candidates' function on the T68i... the P800 might have the full version soon... it works kinda like MS Word's Auto complete. |

hmm ... all the while I have been reading that the predictive text system in the t68 uses T9 (as stated in the user's manual). and iTap is a motorola technology.
They also tried EZtext with the R600, i dunno how it fares. And that there's no predictive text input on the P800 because the designers thought you'd prefer composing your SMS using the handwriting-recognition software. |

iTAP sucks, I have a V60 and it blows...good provider coverage though, best in my area. Anyway...T9 is tons better

@atifm
no as said iTAP is a proprietary motorola text input method which only motorola phones appear to use
@all ezitext is pretty much bang on t9 though just not as slick and the dictionary just doesnt seem as vast
the t68i uses T9!!!!
the p800 uses handwriting recognition!!!!

iTAP is developed by Motorola and as far as I know only used by Motorola phones.
eZiText was originaly developed for the Chinese market. The R600 uses eZiText.
T9 used in most European mobile phones. AOL bought the company behind T9 and recently won a lawsuit agains Zi Corporation (EziText) for infringement of two Tegic (T9) patents.
My guess is that will have to pay royalties for including T9 in their phones. I therefore doubt that T9 will be for free in a P800 upgrade. |

Take it easy! It will come...
Because the P800 is very useful phone with JAVA, and more memory. SonyEricsson will put in more things in it - I think.
Just wait and see! SE now just wanted to get the phone out on the market as soon as possible... Remember last year with T68m ??
Thanks
