Advice needed: work related car park matter |

Hi guys,
Little 'dliema' going on here, my deputy manager and me are the only two people out of the 8 who work in our store now who drive.
Now, she's a full time employee, and although my contract only states 8 hours, I average about 24-28 hours a week I reckon.
I live 4.6 miles away from work, but I have to drive a further 1/2 a mile to get to where I park, and then walk back into town.
My deputy manager, for the last 18 months or so, has been parking at the back of my work, in the only single space we have.
Now, she lives, get this, 0.8 miles from my work, a measly 5 minute walk, and quite literally just as long by car (the road takes you further out and traffic doesn't help).
Now, shes insisting that she will NOT let me park there as she is in a higher position than me, she is second in command and shes a full timer, I'm not. However, I have to pay £2 a day parking, she does not, and I have to travel quite a bit further and longer than her (I have to leave me house at 8 to get to the front door of my work by 8:45).
I've just had a massive text argument with her about this, and she can't see what the problem is, and I swear to god if I get there on Tuesday (the next time we're both in), I'm going to break into her car, free wheel it out of the space and park there myself lol!
I want to know, where do I stand, and who's in the right?
The car park space is not in either of our contracts, it's a perk of the job. We both have legit passes to park there that we leave on our windscreens and we're allowed to park 1 car there on days we're working.
Any advice is much appreciated, I've had enough of this, she literally lives two roads over and it's almost twice the distance from work to her house and it is from work to where I park! :/

Thanks guys
You know what really runs salt into the wound though, her sister that lives with her, also works full time for us.
Now, my deputy manager drives in, but her sister manages to walk! And they only leave the house about ten minutes apart, so it's not a case of it's too far or too hard, it's a case of too lazy it seems :/

Sounds like a lazy sod James she should help our environment and leave her car at home, even when I had to be at my workplace for 6am I had no transport except a bike which was fun but not in the rain lol
she's just being a cow if you ask me
but listen to taz above what he's says is totally true to the matter of this

I am with you there. She is just taking herself too serious. Just came in really early to beat her to it.

ah, I had this issue at Orange, was easily sorted... first come first served...
ultimately if she has an issue with it, she will need to get authorisation from the store manager, but chances are they will say sort it out among yourselves....
So as they say "the early bird catches the worm"

all great ideas, and I've been tempted to do all of them over the last 24 hours lol
As yeah, reg is right, wouldn't touch the manky old trout with a barge pole! (well, i say old, she's 27, so 5 years older than me, but still, she's the wrong sex for a start )
I'm going to text her now and see if I can diffuse things and explain to her that I need to park there tomorrow imparticular due to a birthday party right after work. I bet you she won't get it lol.
I'll let you know what happens
