I wrote this piece mostly because a friend of mine asked me-he (nor I) can't use Yahoo Messenger using various messenger software like: Agile, IM+,etc. You?

true, they should but they don't.
i remember when the earthquake happened in the far east & also when a submarine accidentally cut a marine cable hotmail & yahoo! services were disrupted for days.
both sites reported of the incidents on their front page but didn't bother to notify users of the grievances caused.
i am very happy with gmail & use msn/yahoo! only for chatting. [addsig]

I'm dissapointed with the replies cuz so many of you have Symbian phones and use various messaging programs and yet you don't have the time to fire it up for a second to see if Yahoo works.I have time for ppl asking for help and I was expecting the same in return...

the reason why nobody so far has pointed out this issue is probably because like me i'm sure most of us here use the yahoo! go application which works effortlessly smooth.
the connectivity problem exists only with yahoo! mobile, both mail & messenger. [addsig]

I gave it a try. It's ok, it's usable but it's not like a real client. Thank you for your time and pointing out to this version.

that is correct, yahoo! go is not the ultimate solution which is why the guys at yahoo! are working on yahoo! go 3 beta.
you are welcome. [addsig]

why is yahoo! being so greedy? gmail & aol give pop/imap/smtp services at no extra cost but yahoo! will not unless you pay & upgrade to yahoo! mail plus.
it'a a shame. [addsig]

I've been asking myself that for years. That's why I don't use it almost at all since Gmail arrived.

@701,
so that's 2 less subscribers for yahoo!.
have you tried the google's gmail java application?
it might be low on features but is far more faster than yahoo! go. [addsig]

everytime i type in to my phone's browser www.yahoo.com i am automatically re-directed to yahoo! mobile.
this happens with all my phones be it series40/60/80/uiq/wm5.
it's the same even when i'm using opera mini.
are other users facing this same problem?
are yahoo users in europe & america facing the same? [addsig]

Yes, same here.It detects your browser as mobile and that's why.
