I use windows Vista and i get power outages 5 times a day. Atleast one of those times i always forget and my system shuts down improperly. I need to prevent that.
Does anyone know a programme that i can setup to shut down windows automatically, like at 5am or 3pm?

I use Cool Shutdown where you can choose a shutdown at desired time or after desired time. Does not allways work with Windows XP x64, but it it is free so it could be worth a try

Not sure about Vista but in xp you can set a scheduled task to shutdown at a certain time.

yeah i was looking for that but apparently they are quite expensive, atleast the ones which can keep the monitor on for 5-10 minutes.

A friend of mine in Goa had this problem, we ended up getting a UPS which comes with software to shut the computer down after 10 minutes when the power fails since the outages were often for 10 minutes or more.
The UPS didn't like the monsoon though, it gave up after two weeks
