Polishing P990/P1 touchscreen ? |

Did anyone ever try to polish the touchscreen with DISPLEX or something similar ? Successfully ?
Mine is getting old and I started noticing wear, especially in the part where scroll bar is, but as I really started to love this phone ( P990 ) after hard times in the first six months, I replaced the casing and decided to hold on to it until Pnext or so ... if I could just polish the screen a little it would be perfect !
( tried polishing it with some car polisher, but although nothing went wrong, nothing much was gained either )
Any suggestions (apart from buying a new screen, as it is not in that bad shape ) ? |

I used DISPLEX on a P910i - it improved alot but I could not get the screen anywhere near perfect

^ᅠThank you ! Even little improvement is enough for me ! I suspect that touchscreen top layer is much more resistant to wear/tear than regular screens or casings, so it should be much harder to polish it also ...

Why don't you use that stuff to make it as good as you can, then lay on a screen protector?

I've been using Martin Fields screen protector with my P990, I highly recommend it. It's not cheap but you just put it on and forget it. It may even cover up the worn parts on the screen.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

Maybe you don't have to change the screen,but the plastic protector above it.I suspect there is this protection...Anyway,every1 around here is using Displex. |

@makbil
I have yet to see what I can find in stores in my PayPal not approved country

I don't think that you can remove the factory cover from the screen ... opened the phone few times and I don't think I saw it was possible ( wouldn't have the courage to try it even if I did )

Maybe he hit someone over the head with the phone, and in fact that's why the blood-stained touch screen didn't work (nothing to do with the alcohol). |

no volatile fluids, not alcohol, not even nail polishing remover (believe me, i use it to remove dirt from the circuitry a lot) can be used on the screen... even though i had an accident like that, and it left me with a very big stain on the backlighting of my old k750.... thanks to god it solved itself after a week without using the cellphone.... |

I would'nt recommend using displex on a touchscreen, the outermost layer what you see is the Digitizer, under the digitizer is the actual LCD, the digitizer is basically like a transparent keypad over the screen with tiny pressure points. What displex does is it removes a layer of the digitizer which might mess up the calibration a wee bit(if sufficent amounts of the digitizer is removed.).
IP is usually used in smally quantities after being applied onto a soft cloth to clean screens, touch or not at authorised Motorola and SE service centers, in excess quantity or on direct application it can irreparibly damage your LCD.

well... touchscreens are about 50 タ here ... anyway, I am aware of risk, therefore I decided to wait until the replacement for my dying backup phone arrives before trying to polish P990 ... Thank you for your answers ! + What is "IP" ?
