I have nothing against the yanks however celebs or just your normal tv soapies like Michelle Ryan and Anna Friel take the piss, why use fake american accents for there shows ie, "Bionic Woman & Pushing Daisies",
why do the american producers so badley want them to require that accent for a show? ive also noticed fake "English" accents in other programs like "Supernatural" I just don't know why they want Brits to put on these accents, even knw we pull them off better then the yanks when it coms to them doing the british accent! lol
Ive heard Bionic Woman was a flop in the USA so I wont be surprised if Eastenders producers try to get Michelle Ryan back she was Cat Slator's daughter back on the soap a few years ago anyway!
Anna Friels new program Pushing daisies is abit odd but it's only just begun so lets see where it heads lmao!
btw what you lot think of TV ACCENT FRAUDS/FAKES?

I dont like it as when i watch The Bionic Woman(its crap)all i see is Cat Slater. I cant take it seriously. The only English actor who pulls off doing a good American accent is Hugh Laurie in House. He does that so well and is very funny too. That Pushing Daises yesterday was pants. |

Michelle and Anna do the accents well they must of had some speech coaching lol.. I just don't get why they want them to pull the yank accent off though? not as if it's gonna boost the ratings is it lol
Totally agree with you on the whole Zoe Slator thing though ive tried to watch Bionic woman but I can't get into it? I can't take it seriousley knowing she was that daughter of loud mouth londoner once in Eastenders
Angelina Jolie was crap at Tombraider,
ive heard the yanks slagging off the Guy who does Torchwood they mock his accent too, I was surprised to learn he is actually Scottish, but moved to States at a young age, I just don't get why the yanks slag him off cos he is American in my eyes btw!

Americans make me cringe anyway though we all still love the movies they make. They should all be like Sean Connery who in every film he has ever been in he never changes his accent. If he plays an Englishman he will still speak in his Scottish accent. He will play a Russian and still in his Scottish accent. Odd. |

Ive nothing against Americans but somehow I can't take them seriousley I find most of them Very Loud, and whats with the crying all the time have you always noticed that? there way to emotional/sensitive lol
yanks make great movies though,
just abit strange why the accents lmao!
it would make me cringe if "Jason Statham" pulled a accent next,
I quite love his films btw

Likely because the show is based in America?
missUK you seem to have a lot to say about celebs

I have to say David Tennant's English accent is rather good for a Scotsman
But meh Spike from Buffy used to be a rather good English accent from memory

Actually, from what I remember John Barrowman (aka Jack Harkness from Torchwood) only speaks with an American accent because he was picked on in school when he moved to the USA, and it kind of stuck, but if he relaxes it he can talk with a genuine scottish accent. I saw this on the Charlotte Church show when he was chatting with her, she was (i think) the first chat show host to call him up on it and he admitted it and dropped the American accent for the rest of the show, really weird watching him talk with a scottish accent lol.

yeah I head it too on Radio 2 J, although I'm sure he said he can do both accents at the drop of a hat, but as you say he got picked on at school therefore adopted the American accent....
