I don't live today has a rather similar rift to the ghostbusters at one bit.
Anyone know if the ghostbusters theme was influenced by this?

No, Ray Parker Jr. allegedly stole the melody from a song called "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis and the News, if I remember correctly. They went to court over it but Ray Parker Jr. won the case.
