Sony has a software that allows you to restore files from a corrupted memory stick:

Memory Stick Data Rescue Service

hope it helps you out.

try this connect you p990 to the pc with the corrupted card in it.
go to control panel>administrative tools>Computer Management, then click on disk management, select you card right click on it and press format, select FAT then select 16k(for a 1gig card) and then format it.

If you can't format it in the phone then i'm afraid the stick has probably failed. This is not as uncommon as you think, especially when the flash memory has been well used. Flash does have a limited life, i'm afraid.

You've got your data all backed up, so if you do find you can't get it working, 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duos go pretty cheap these days. It definitely won't hurt your pocket much to buy a completely fresh Memory Stick.

By computer management, i can not format.

Will it let you delete the partition? In computer management, right click on the memory card's entry and choose "delete partition". You will recieve a warning, just click "yes" or "Ok".

If it works, right click again and create a new partition, then try formatting it.

Different makes have different ways to control the rate of wear. Also bear in mind that a stick that has been written to several times a day every day will reach the end of its life much quicker than one that gets written to once a month.
