So Many Software Versions |

I got a call from a retailer today who had a t68i that couldn't use MMS. Being a regular Esatoan, I knew the latest software version and it turned out his phone did not have the latest software version.
The retailer asked me how many sofware versions there were and I said upwards of around 10 (I think thats correct) and I was asked why there was so many out.
I have to admit, I don't know why there have been so many. The fact that there is not any obvious differences between the software versions (other than the jump to MMS enabled) I'm at a loss to why there is so many.
Does anyone know why there has been so many software versions when there appears to have been only one major shift in the t68i functionality?

today mobile phones are very advanced compaired to phones for say 2-3 years ago... the more advanced it is, the more it is that can fail... the firmware versions exists mainly to correct bugs found in previous versions... the same thing as for computer software
