i have a peculiar problem since the time i have bought this phone and the problem persists even after upgrading the firmware. my phone hangs if it is inactive for more than 3 hrs. also if not used for a couple of hours the the calling and sms feature gets disabled automatically and i have to restart the phone by removing the battery as the start button also doesn't work in this state. i was told by the sales person from whom i got the phone that flashing might solve this problem??
any kind of help will be deeply appreciated . thanking in advance to all the members

Well, as I said I've come to the conclusion that if it were a bug in the firmware, then everybody with a P1/w960/m600 etc. would be having the same trouble. Also it's not any 3rd party software, as it happend to my p990 in a pristine state ie. no added apps.

Take it back and save yourselves a lot of headaches and concern abut wether the phone in your pocket is actually functioning, or wether it's turned into a very expensive clock. I speak from experience, and have missed lots of calls & messages this way.

I am having exact same problem. to rub salt to my wounds, i purchased phone in bombay and came here to uk for studies. i discovered this problem after a month or so. and SE does not give world wide warranty. so i have insured my fone. then after 1-2 months i will throw it in a creek and get a replacement. thats the only option i have here.

I believe that SE used the hardware parts for first few batches of P1i from its older P990i. That is why we have similar problems.

Disgusted with SE i got nokia N95 on contract already

I on the phone throughout the night but do not have this problem. Perhaps it is regional firmware issue.

I sent my phone to SE service centre few days ago and I got back my phone today.

However, the representative at SE said they couldn't find any hardware problems within the phone..... They said there **maybe** software issue and helped me to update the firmware. I cannot verify as it is still the latest R9K009. They insisted the way they flash the firmware is not the same as we are doing via SEUS.

Ironically the problem recurred just few hours after I got my phone back! Called them again and they suspect it should be SIM card problem.... However I told them my SIM card is working sweetly in my old M600i.... Then they ask me to bring my phone back to Service Centre again....

I'm in Hong Kong....Believe it or not the SE Service Centre is TOO CROWDED here.... I waited an hour to hand in my phone few days ago and another hour to get it back today. Seems I need to waste 2 hours again!

Frustrated... and I see from forum in China that this symptom is not unusal as well... many owners are sufferring the same problem.

Try flashing the firmware to another region. I never had this problem.
