What is device management(on K800i)? |

I've got a K800i phone with the latest firmware.
Under Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity.
I got an option called "Device Management".
I've looked through my userguide, and I cannot seem to figure out what this option is for?
When trying to use it, it says:
"You must create an account before you can start a session Create now?"
Could someone please point me in the right direction?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is a function you can activate so that your operator or employer or some other actor can manage your phone remotely, to, for example, set or change internet or WAP/GPRS settings, change web browser start page, add address book or calendar entries, initiate firmware update, etc. Normally, I don't think you need or want this feature.
There is another function that you may find useful, though, it's the synchronization command (settingsa/communication/syncronization). Once you have configured a synchronization server, you can backup your address book, calendar and messages on an online server. One such server is ZYB (http://zyb.com/) |

From the V640i White Paper:
Device Management (DM)
DM utilizes GPRS as a bearer (basic network connectivity needs to be in place) of the provisioning data and allows the operator to access the phone and check and send out different settings such as network connectivity (GPRS), email, MMS, WAP and Java™.
