Does the K770i include support for the generic animations (e.g. smiling, kissing, sad etc)? I don't mean MMS picture messaging - I mean the pictures that work in non-MMS messages because I have friends on networks which don't support MMS in messages originating from my network.

My old Motorola V600 and Razr had this, but my new(er) Razr2 V8 doesn't.

Thanks

Yes, I believe it does. I can insert little smiley faces into a SMS without it being turned into a MMS.

Thank-you, that's good to hear.

My only other query is with respect to message management. I have a few messages saved on my SIM card (saved on my old phone) which I'd really like to keep. The RAZR2 V8 has the option to move messages between the phone memory and SIM. Is there a similar feature on the K770i?

It doesn't look like it. I paid a visit to Sony Ericsson dot com and 'Try the phone' on the K770i page. Can't see any way to select where the messages go to either in the Messages menu or the Settings menu.

However, my V640i can send messages to the M2 card or the phone memory so maybe you need an A200 phone to do this? A200 seems to have a different Message Settings menu structure.
