Hi I'd like to connect my Sony Ericsson T610 to my windows xp pc. & before anyone get's into it I know it's an older model, but I use it for traveling purposes since it's unlocked so it's very useful to me.

I want to be able to use the best cable so I can use software to send themes, pictures, and games to my T610. Also because I want to use it to save all my sim information like phone contacts, etc.

I have found two cables available on ebay:

#1 DCU-11 Cable

#2 DSC-11 Cable

#3 DSC-11 Cable

I have no idea which one I should by... They look the same to me yet have different names [except the last one looks different]... Those are the only ones I can find on the net. Maybe there are others? Anyways I want the best cable for my T610 so please recommend one anybody???

Oh and on a side note can you tell me of a compatible software that will do what I mentioned above on the cable you recommend?

Thank You

welcome to Esato

its possible you don't have a serial port on your computer but you will most certainly have a USB port, so I would choose the first cable. In any case USB is probably easier to deal with and more future-proof

Here is the T610 support page where you can download software such as the file manager

it seems the ebay sellers have not named these correctly. AFAIK the serial cables that SE produced were DRS-10 and DRS-11

the USB ones were DCU-10 and DCU-11

I have never seen that question answered on Esato and doing a quick search I still don't find anything absolute however the -11 came after the -10 so it would seem its updated in some way. You can be sure that the -11 will do what you need.

btw, to further complicate your choice, you can also look at the desk stand DSS-25 which has a USB cable which stores in the base. There was also an earlier DSS-20 but SE don't seem to have that on their site any more and apart from cosmetics, I'm not sure we ever found the real difference between those two either

Oh btw happy 500th post ^^^

Thanks for the information... I too have done an extensive search on this site looking for information on it. Actually 5 hours worth of searching. In any case I googled the cable names and supposedly the DSC-11 cable is for unlocking, flashing, and debranding the T610. The DCU-11 cable is reportedly for sending data from pc to the T610 and vice versa.

I guess I'll just have to buy the DCU-11 to be sure it's what I need. Heck it only costs $1 on ebay plus $4 shipping so it wouldn't kill me to buy it.

Though does anyone know of any good programs for me to use with it such as sending themes to my T610, games, and backing up my sim info???

Thank You

Masseur's post count currently stands at 20419. He probably reached 500 when you were just an itch in your daddy's pants

Anyway, congrats for being the owner of one of 's classic phones.

Bluetooth would probably be faster as I think the T610i uses USB 1.0 rather than 2.0 or something, so it has a slow transfer speed. I'd still go with the USB cable though, simply because I think its more reliable, and of course the better options.

Floats Mobile Agent may still work with T610.

To hell with it I just ordered a bluetooth usb dongle for it. Thanks for the info though guys. I heard that usb cable has a slow connection on the T610 for some reason and bluetooth is faster so I'm going to do that.

Hey anyone know how to put themes I have on my pc for my T610 on my phone?

Thanks
