Who thinks it`s about time we could go into a newsagents, buy a packet of crisps, go to th till, find th shop till on "discover" then send an amount of money using a personal numerical code that is input by you on your phone, this is then paid on your phone bill as an itemised confectionary transaction.
Like a credit card you pay within th month to escape interest.
It would stamp out th kind of fraud where people secretly swipe credit cards with a card reader while they have your card, also if you loose your phone nobody could spend any money on it.

@pachy

Sounds jolly good to me. Don't they already have something like this in Japan?

I would prefer a seperate category for crisps on my bill though, 'confectionary' should only be used for chocolate and sweets.

what if someone bluejacked(or bluesnarfed) your phone, and used its credit to buy something ? A whole new world of fraud

Kam, how would he know you password. And yes, Japan has something like that. You enter password on ur phone, then screen shows little square with multiple dots on it- its your personal felica mark. Then you face your screen with scanner and voila your money wasted for shitty stuff. And as i kno japanese phones use normal bank's credit for payment on phone and felica

In the Philippines, we can pay for our purchases using our mobile phones via SMS.

It can be used for purchases, transfer funds to other people, or send donations.

Someone's blog on the philippine m-commerce scene

guys, in fairness you need to check the date you will see that my starting post in this thread was made in 2002, while i was still a small boy.
@scotsboyuk
Sweets, cakes & Pastries are all officially "Confectionery", (Oxford English Dictionary), many small shops/newsagents/Bakeries push the Confectionery button to put crisps through their tills.
