Hello..
in a nut shell..
something has been away for 14 days on warranty repair, I've been advised to write a letter to the people, Do I;
a) say you have 7 days from the date of this letter to sort it
b) you've had 14 days to sort it and haven't I want a refund...
Ta!

I am fairly sure that if they cant repair your item they HAVE to provide a replacement of similar specifications, but of course it depends what is wrong with it. If they can use wear and tear or that you have misused the item as an excuse not to replace/refund you can be sure they will. Manufacturers take lessons form insurance companies in cases like this! |

I worked in retail for 6 years.. I'm only too aware of how they get round stuff and it was wrong from day 1 as they full well know!

Easy to say it now, but i would have taken it back to the shop within 14 days and demanded a replacement, they would have had no choice in the matter. But anyway.........
i would go for option a, it shows you are being nice about it and not being a d**** by giving them a chance otherwise they might just get arsey for the sake of it.
Im sure you would anyway, but make sure you keep a copy of the letters you send just in case. |

FYI, "demanding" things will get you nowhere, it'll just make things worse, believe me lol.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |

I know what you mean, but not if you get your facts straight first and adopt a polite but menacing tone. Then, being demanding can work very well indeed, in fact it can be the only way to get these greedy, bloated companies to actually do anything!
@Reg
I would guess that they will have something in their terms and conditions relating to a reasonable timescale for repair. So personally I would give them x amount of time to repair it and get it back to you, then follow it up with the other letter requesting a refund if they don't meet your deadline.
And if that doesn't work, a quick visit to the CAB can work wonders
Your ex-employer got a few nice phone calls and a letter from the CAB when they tried to steal money from me. All of a sudden they "canceled my outstanding debt" and sent me a PAYG sim with £10 credit on it! Now why didn't they just do that in the first place, I wonder?
