W890i Quick Question |

I have a Vodafone branded W890i and I was wondering whether there was anyway of either removing the Vodafone Live softkey on the right or getting it to warn you before going online. The reason I ask is that since I got the phone I have hit the button by mistake and I don't really want ot go online as I do not have any kind of data plan. I am assuming that these mistaken key presses are why I have figures in the Data Counter menu option - apparently I have sent 3480 B and received 49809 B in the few days I have had the phone.
Thanks for the help.

There is no way to do that, apart from flashing your phone with the non-Vodafone firmware, which voids your warranty and is somewhat difficult for a not so technically minded person.
Is browsing the Vodafone Live pages not free? It is here in New Zealand. If it is, it shouldn't matter too much. If you don't use it already, start using the automatic keylock to prevent accidental presses, and you'll find you grow out of the habit of pressing that key other than without knowing (eg. in your pocket). I have a W910i with that Vodafone Live softkey and have never ever pressed it accidentally.

Thanks for that. Like you say, I will get used to it being there and will remember not to press it by mistake. My previous phone never had the Live service assigned to a simularly placed button so I never had to worry about it. You may be right about Vodafone live being free - I will have to check.
Cheers.

Debrand it to Generic W890i R1EA033 for just €8. Visit www.kulankendi.com and bye bye Vodafone stuffs. |

No problem dude. And aremaboy's suggestion will void your warranty. Just so you know.

Thanks for the suggestions/replies. The Vodafone branding is a little bit annoying. One other question I do have, is it just with Vodafone that the games that come on the phone are only trials? There isn't a single full game on the phone I have.
Thanks
