Hello all,

I'm going to do my Msc in a computer related discipline in the UK this coming September. My Bachelors is in Mechanical so getting into a uni has been a bit difficult, well at the moment I have:
1. an unconditional offer letter from the University of York(Msc in IT)
2. a conditional offer from the University of Bath(Msc in Mobile COmputing )
3. an unconditional offer from the univeristy of sheffield with a 2000 pound scholarship.

I've been leaning towards York as most of the online rankings say that its Computer science department is one of the best in the UK right up there with the big two and getting in was'nt too easy either, but online I've heard conflicting opinions some saying that York is well recognised some saying it is'nt, I'm getting a little bit worried, was wondering if any of the forum memebrs had any idea if York is well recognised in the UK as being one of the top universities. and if it is in reality better than Bath and say UCL or Imperial where the computer science department is concerned.

Thank you in advance.

York has a pretty decent reputation as a Uni, i'm not 100% familiar with your chosen subject however.
I did Physics at Cardiff (many moons ago) and it's IMO almost as important to suss out what uni life can offer you at each of your possible choices.
Bath has a good rep AND like York is a pleasant place to spend your years of study, much more so than Sheffield i reckon.

@mweb

Many thanks for your reply. York looks like a nice place to live for the next year or so, only problem being I'm coming form a place where the temp is like 35C to 5-10C lol. I guess I'll stick with York.
