I just ordered a phone off ebay and i got screwed. I was in a rush so i didnt entirely read the description (my fault) although i felt confident something like this would not happen as I've ordered through the same seller three times previously. I got my phone yesterday and the speaker is not working. I cant hear music, ringing, or utilize the speaker phone function. I reviewed the item desciption and in fine print it states USED ITEM BUT WORKS 100%. Then in even smaller font NO EXCHANGES/RETURNS. I cant even begin to describe how upset I am as I am now the proud owner of a $405 paperwight. I just emailed the seller about my problem and hopefully due to the conflicting descriptions they will work with me to exchange the phone or provide me a refund.

Worst case scenario they dont do anything, does anyone know if I can switch out the speaker. If so, how much would it cost to do this.

Check if the phone is still under warranty.. If you can get the original sales receipt for the phone, maybe you can have sony repair it.. Just so long as it wasn't abused or damaged by a liquid. These phones have a limited one year warranty and most people only started buying them last fall so it should still be under warranty. The ebay seller may not have the receipt though so you might be screwed.. Try calling SE and asking them what your options are.. worst they can say is that they'll fix it for a price. I wish you the best of luck with this.. Sometimes ebay really blows.

Surely if the guys sold it as 100% working and from what you say it clearly isn't then your entitled to some kind of redress, if you paid via Paypal take the matter up with them.

I did plan on calling Sony I just wanted to wait to hear back from the seller. Hopefully they'll help me out. I didnt know I had to have the original sales receipt though. Either way I'll pay to have it fixed. Just wont like it. lol

I did and didnt even think to do that. Like I said I've bought several things before from ebay and never encountered a problem. Thanks again for the heads up.

I just talked to the seller and they are going to exchange the phone. The person I talked to was kind of a jerk but I let that go. My concern was either getting it replaced or refunded. She snaped at me with an attitude and said "didnt you knwo it was a used phone." As much as I wanted to I kept my cool and pointed out that the posting said it was 100% functional and I doubted anyone would think a non-working speaker is 100%. She responded with "even though its used I'll go ahead and let this one slide". lol. Followed with "I hope you're going to give us positive feedback. Which I have no problem as long as it gets replaced. This will surely be the last time I deal with them.

Anyway thanks again for your suggestions.

Well I finally received my new phone. The jerks shipped it slower than before and they put it in a box twice the size of the phone's box. It was completely beat up almost tearing at the sides. Luckily the works great. No problems what so ever. Their ID name is WirelessExperts. They're suppose to refund me shipping cost but I've yet to receive a follow up from them. I think I'm just going to take it as a loss and put negative feedback on them.

Again thanks for the suggestions.

Last night I finally got around to leaving the seller, wireless_experts, feedback and man are they not happy. They just called me on the phone asking why I left them negative feedback and asked that I change it. I'm at work and unable to talk on my phone so I basically hung up on them. A few minutes later I get an email from eBay saying wireless_exports has reported the item as not being paid for. I laughed for sec in shock and thought man they really want their positive feedback. I responded to eBay with proof the payment and explained that they are unhappy about the negative feedback.
