i was given one of these doesn't read the sim. any ideas what the problem could be or where to send it for a warrenty repair in uk? i have the box and what not just can't find any info where to send it to.

take it to CPW if it's sim free one and they will sort it for you

Well no, CPW will send it to RIM for them to fix, if it's anything like my 8300 it will get replaced as it took them too long and I kicked off..

does the sim carrier look fudged? have you tried a piece of paper folded up between the sim and battery?

I'm sure voda will send it off to RIM for you

looks fine. phones like new.

tried that, tried a number of sims nothing, just reads "insert sim card" at the top.

will they still do it without proof of purchase?

i think its a hardware fault on the mother board, so should be covered by warrenty. i gave it to my boss to look at he was stumped.

Try blowing hard on the SIM contacts in the BB unit. If that doesn't do it it COULD - although slim chance - be a firmware issue; try to reload the same firmware but grab it off of Vodafone's firmware site If its a Vodafone BB; if not get a replacement PRONTO!

Even if you don't have the receipt; you can STILL have them check records of the purchase ... date & time, by bank card or credit card # to see their records match your claim.

thanks the feedback.

i have tried all networks. i have a vodafone contract sim of my own and it doesn't read that either. so am i best to take it to a voda store? even though its not in my name?
