when i open the camera cover, it should go automatically onto the take-a-picture mode (whatever) but it doesn't, it just stays on the main screen.
any clue what the problem is? |

sounds very much like the camera switch is broken. It's easy to do if you've had it apart. there's also the possibility (if i remember correctly) of the switch thing on the cover, being lose, and not making contact with the internal part.
Either way, you can still access the camera by the menu, or holding down the button

Did you opened your W800 housing already? or have you changed your housing already?

There is a patch called " ignore closed latch". It bypasses the connector. Search se-nse in the customizing section

If u have CID 36 use far manager to patch(use the search button and look for: Far manager for those who want to learn.) If u have CID 49 use SEtool lite to patch.

being a w800, it's cid36 for sure. Also, before I would customize anything, I'd recommend pulling off the back cover and having a look to check if the internal switch is broken or not.

Nup, the w800 was replaced by the W810 before the change to CID49, hence no CID49 W800 firmware being available. (well, apart from modded ones)

It can be software error if you have uploaded uncompatible or buggy camera driver. If it is not software, then the lens cover camera switch could be broken or damaged.
