When my phone ain't in use I have a completely black screen. Is there any way to display the clock as with previous SE's I've had. Also there's no envelope displayed to say I've got a text. Any ideas people? Cheers |

maybe it's not available this feature. but if you if want, go to menu, settings, display. there enable sleep mode clock if there's any.

Thats interesting I was thinking of using my forthcoming upgrade on this phone, but if it doesn't show at least the time when in stand-by then I won't bother. Thats one feature I like about Nokia S60 series phones, a lot of information is present on stand-by. |

Well, you can just press one fo the volume buttons and the screen will light up with the stand-by clock at your service.
And besides, without the screen being backlit, it's rather hard to see what time it is.
At least I think it should be like this.

And that's just plain dumb. It's a great feature and it should be available on every model. |

I'm sure my W880i had the sleep mode clock feature, its also handy to see if you've missed a call or text. |

correct, w880 did have sleep mode clock (as also mentioned in previous discussions of this)
I have no idea of the reasons why took this away and based on how many times this comes up it seems clear it was not the correct decision

Even the w810 had the sleep mode clock, but after firmware upgrades and later releases of w810 did not have the sleep mode clock.
At last one thing is evident that the a200 platform is not going to incorporate it.
I hope atleast symbian phones should have it .it's one thing i like about p990,when ur a minute or 2 away from ur desk and u can get an indication without even looking at the screen whether u have any missed call or message.Well i hope atleast p5 or whtever has this.

maybe se could manage this bug with a simple fw upgrade... standby clock is a really useful feature imo

Or any other Sony Ericsson from now on as they all use a new screen technology which goes completely black when the phone is not in use. Hence the reason you need to press one of the volume keys to see the standby clock. Not that hard is it? |

I don't really care one way or another if there is sleep clock mode or not (though I have to admit that its handy to have). However, if SE keeps insisting on NOT including it in their latest phones, then the least they could do is incorporate some kind of LED on the front of the phone that flashes periodically to let you know there is a missed event. It gets annoying very fast to have to pick the phone up and press a button to turn on the screen just to see if i've missed a call everytime I leave the room. |
