tomtom is very very hard to get running with internal gps chip.
works great if you use 3th party external gps.

wayfinder does download your maps

I have Google Maps on my N95 8GB and yes it uses the telephonic network... but if you peep into OPTIONS... then TOOLS...There is a option to use GPS... and it does work with the internal GPS module of the N95....
Just not sure which version it is...but downloaded via the n95 from google...

google maps are good if u have wifi, otherwise its useless, it uses way too much kb imo. nokia maps arent that bad, but sadly the built in gps in n95 is only sirf II and next to it the crap battery standytime doesnt really offer a useful usage imo

My N95 GPS is not bad. The assisted gps works well to get a quick fix on satellites and helps give a better satellite lock. I use google maps quite a bit as I have unlimited data on my contract but if you dont then use the built in program.

Google map works with internal gps. So does other nav (mostly asia-based) like mapking, navfone, route66. I think Tom Tom is resisting to make their software compatible with internal GPS due to other reasons rather than technical.

And not forgetting other non navigation software like Sports Tracker, photo Geo Tagging. I think the API for using the internal GPS is availabel for developer to build apps.

Well the best GPS for the N95 has to be GARMIN XT which works like a breeze and turn by turn is all bundled in the price.
