Hi,
I've bought my T300 from Germany, and i'm from Portugal, so the phone didn't bring Portuguese language, nor T9. I've phoned SE and they told me to upgrade my phone with a portuguese FW in a service point, witch i did. My version was R1B and now it's R1D, and ERIX is gone too.
But I got it in portuguese, and that's what I wanted!
I even did a Master Reset after the update and nothing.
This phone is from T-Mobile Network.
The startup and off screens are from T-Mobile, witch didn't change after the upgrade.
But you have the option to put up a startup image in the T300 definitions.
Maybe it's a problem with R1D...?

For those with R1D firmware, you can now download Erix from wap.sonyericsson.com... |

@Cytech
I think the problem they are experiencing stems from the fact that they have provider customizations that overwrote the startup/shutdown shows. My wife has a T-Mobile (it is definitely customized - I checked the firmware, plus it's pretty evident from some other features as well) and her shutdown sequence including the sounds are distinctively T-Mobile tainted |

This is not the only problem. I have R1D and i have the startup and shut down show but when i put a different animation(gif) it doesn't play it. It only shows the first frame and it doesn't play any sound. Maybe the sturt up show isn't a gif with sound but a small video. Have you thought that? This axplains why it can't paly different animation and soyn on sturt up. Also it doesn't play sound on shut down, i now it does on sturt up but should it play and on shut down? |

I have R1B, no problems with my phone at all, apart from the memory thing is a bit inaccurate, no other problems. I have startup and shut down. My shut down is the orange logo tho and i can't change it. I aint upgrading until R1K |

It could also have been the cold, a battery can stop working at low temps? It may also have been a fatal error or something

What do you mean by "when i put a different animation(gif) it doesn't play it"... You can't change the startup/shutdown animation in the phone. The only animation you can change is the screen saver, and that only shows right before the phone switches over to the floating clock. |

I also got my T300 from T-Mobile in germany. First I also had this f**king T-Mobile Startup and Shut down show, but then i got a tip:
Begin a masterreset. After 12 secs of the "please wait" screen remove the Battery Pannel so the battery jumps off an the phone turns off!
Put the battery in and reboot the phone. Don't worry about the long boot time after the reset, the phone has to initialize the memory. If you wan't to delete pics, mms temps etc. before they unzip from the se-memory do so.
If you now turn your phone off/on there will be the SE-Startup-Show, all Icons will be original and ERIX will be there too
Edit: Sorry, forgot to say! If it doesn't work like this just wait 13 or 14 seconds. You have to try a little bit before you find the best time!!!

Your english is fine dude... BTW. I don't know if the technique you mention works for all types of customizations... but you can definitely clear up some memory that the generated thumbnails take up. My wife has a t300 and I haven't messed with it that much... but I have a t68i and whenever I delete a picture you can tell from the amount of memory that gets freed up that the memory the thumbnail was using also was freed properly... |

Bloodwarrior,
I gotta thank you. I tried your method and after the second try, it worked! No more annoying-ass T-Mobile shutdown show. Just sweet SonyEricsson. I know we're picky people, but these are our phones dammit. One thing anyone should know before attempting this (at least this is how it happened to me): Upon doing this, I lost all of the phones information EXCEPT the pictures, ringtones, and games that I downloaded from my PC. So ALL of the phone's pre-prgrammed info is now gone. (This of course, doesn't include phone numbers and contact info) This doesn't really bug me. Most of the phones original stuff, I didn't care for anyway. However, I did like some of the pictures that were on the phone so if anyone knows how (or were I can go) to get a few select pictures and themes back, I would greatly appreciate the info. Anyway, thanks again, Bloodwarrior. Take care, all.
Also. Bloodwarrior, or anyone else, do you know if once you've used this technique, will the master reset restore all of the original settings set by the phones original distributor?
