no one answered so i can just fill in with this since i now have bluetooth installed:
you cant have larger then 600byte background.
easy way to make a color pic into a t39background: open pic you want--> save pic as .gif and set colors to 4--> open new .gif file and set it to grayscale--> save it and now it works(rembmer 26x73 is maximum width/height, and also rembmer most pics will be to large around 2kb so gotta pic right one)
