I accidentally dropped my phone (k750i) at work today onto a hard surface, and it took quite a whack. Also, unfortunately as you will find out, my phone reset at this point. I have a SIM lock and my keys on the row 7, 8 and 9 won't work at all - all others do. Problem being one of those digits is in my passcode. So now i am completely stuck. Is my phone beyond repair?

Thanks

Well, initially to get around not being able to access your phone at all I would suggest putting your sim into a spare phone to disable the PIN and then return it to your k750 so you can still use it, obviously any input would be a problem though...

To solve the problem with the keys not working I would first take the front fascia off the phone and ensure the keypad pcb is properly connected to the main board.

Hope this helps

Although the actual PIN is stored on the SIM, I was under the impression that it is a phone setting as to whether it asks for the PIN. Therefore, I don't think that will work.

See if the Volume UP and down works?
It might require a keypad IC change.

as zaxan said., just make sure that the keypad pcb is properly connected to the main board., because i had a similar problem with the camera key after i dropped my k750. i gave it to a service center and had the key properly aligned.. now it's working...

Thanks for the replies. The worst thing is happening at the moment, though at the time of posting my phone 7,8 and 9 weren't working properly, I decided to charge the phone with it off and when I switched on, it was working fine. So I thought that was the end of the matter.

Then last night I went to use my phone and it was even worse! Not only were 7, 8 and 9 not working, it was constantly typing and deleting random characters off the keypad. So I left it last night and today it seems to be working again - and has been all day. But whether it will stay that way, I have no idea. How do i take it apart?

@Sebby, the PIN is definitely set on the SIM itself as I have previously done what I suggested before and it did work as I described above

@alex_ncfc, I would suggest checking ebay for a new keypad PCB and also a total long shot of flashing the firmware might just be worthwhile

@zaxan - will have a look around on ebay to see what I can find. Also I would like to flash this (my current firmware is R1BC002 - isn't this quite old? And is a newer version recommended?) Cheers

There are newer versions available for the k750 (I'm not sure which exact changes these bring but it is recommended that you run the latest version)

I would advise using seus to update to the latest available firmware for your phone, although if you want to debrand your phone at the same time as flashing you as well you could always download the relevant firmware and flash you phone with xs++

Hopefully a flash and new keypad pcb might just help, although try flashing first as this is the free option of the two

Thanks for the advice! I would love to flash my phone using xs++, but I have never used it before - is this a simple process? Also, where do i download the relevant firmware? The main reason I'd prefer to debrand etc is to turn off the annoying camera sounds!

Hello to all from a newbie.

I stay in the same situation.
Keys 7,8 and 9 and the joistick not function.
Key 1 write 14, key 2 write 25, key 3 write 36 (doble caracter).

I swap the keyboard from other phone and the same situation.
The error is in the motherboard or firmware.

I want to test change firmware, go to learn how to.

Sorry for my english.

it's rare that flashing will fix key press issues. Usually this means either mainboard is fried, or the keypad is having connectivity issues. The latter can usually be fixed by disassembling the phone, cleaning the keypad if necessary and reassembling. The former (mainboard damage) can not be fixed)
