Well a lot of people here are very smart so hopefully you will be able to help me.
Im in year 12 at school and I just cant stand it. I dont know why but I just hate school and wanna drop out and get working. I have recently been thinking about becoming a police officer, and looking at http://www.metpolicecareers.co.uk you dont need any school qualifications. Is any one here a police officer? (in the uk) maybe you could help me?
anyway for GCSE I have 7 A's, 2 B's and a C and to be honest if I stay on and do my A levles im gonna fail them. So I feel I might aswell use the time to greater benefit.
So please help me out!
Cheers

If you can get them results at GCSE you won't fail A2s is you put your mind to it...
I was the same as you, wanted out of school and now I'm out of it and in the big wide world, I wish I was still at school!
My wee bro is in the same predicament as you, he's in year 12 doing his AS levels and he can't be arsed at all. We know some fairly high people in the local Police force and they have advised him to continue with his A levels and if he still wants to join after that give em a bell...
have you thought about doing a trade as it were? British Gas are crying out for engineers at the moment and will throw money at you, within 5 years they promise you'll be on £25k......
I'm a fine one to speak though, spent 6 years in retail before I decided I wanted to do what I originally wanted to do when I left school, but here I am 7 years after I left school doing what I wanted to do to back then..
"C**** you'll never make a Land Surveyor" is what Miss Bowes told me in 2001.... 7 years later what am I doing? ahhhh... How I love proving teachers wrong....

Complete your A levels, even if you're definitely going to fail them. I know that you don't want to hear that, but just think about this:
The two years you spend doing your A levels are some of the most important of your life. It's a kind of "Limbo", where you're an adult but your parents are still willing to put a roof over your head as if you were a child. Take advantage of that, if nothing else.
More importantly, whether you pass or not, the fact that you have studied at a higher level opens many, many more doors than simply leaving school with GCSEs, no matter how good they are (and yours are good). Lets face it, everybody tells fibs on their CV, and bad exam results can easily be glammed up with a little creative writing.
Also, how do you know for sure that you're going to fail? I got D, U, and U for my 1st year exam but ended up getting B, C, C in the end. Not spectacular at all, but the fact that you completed a difficult course shows that you have the kind of attitude and skills that many employers are looking for.
But most importantly of all, you're still young. If you're going to waste two years of your life, now is the time to do it. And it's better to waste two years doing something that might, just might make a huge difference later on in life than it is to not do so and end up regretting it later.
Right, lecture over. And clean your bloody room up!
