Cool, finally SE's taking the big jump LOL. Well, responding to those who wants wifi, there's always W960, but yeah I would agree, just because you're clamshell lovers doesn't mean you're female and don't need wifi. Doesn't see the harm in SE implementing the first clamshell with wifi ever. They did come up with the first clamshell touchscreen with Z558i didn't they

That's because it's obviously not, it's just a back-to-basics music phone, and apparently quite a good one at that. If you want the storage of the W960, but aren't interested in the smartphone features and bulk, you buy this.

The built in FM transmitter is a good move, I think there is only one other phone which has this, one of the Japanese phones - the W52s and that is a lot bigger than this.

The built in FM receiver has been a long time coming, I'm wondering if the radio can also be streamed to wireless headphones.

but wait, even the dedicated SE FM transmitter accessory is mostly rubbish. you have to be within a metre or so of the radio antenna for it to be particularly usable, and I never had much success in the car where the aerial is at the back end

True and it would be great if they upped the power and increased the range of the transmission, which they mght have done.

I'll see if I can find out the range on the W52s.

LG make a CDMA phone which has a built in FM transmitter. It sells here in NZ.

And the transmitter isn't necessarily bad, it does depend on your car or the location. They can't make it transmit really powerfully from such a small device so it is really a good effort.

A little while ago this was true.
Now the newly announced Nokia N78 also features the FM transmitter.

W980 can be W710 successor...

I totally agree, even if z710i could be converted to a w710i

and z770i probably cant be converted to a w980i I too feel

the proper name for the w980i should have been w770i.

z710i can be converted to w710i, I have tried this with my z710i in the past. Makes little difference to the media functions and obviously the pedometer does not function but it is possible.

Yeah -., thats what I am saying. z710i could be converted to a w710i
but even though z770i probaly cant be converted to a w980i, the w980i ( to me ) is more a successor to the W710i than the W - smartphones and should be called ( clamshell - W770i )
