W850 louder than it... Despite the existence of Stereo Speaker in W980

sorry to hear that, can confirm that W850 is one roaring beast though
this trend of producing phones that are on the quiet side is rather worrying. should put their act together on that front at least.

^ Its really funny (or sad for SE fans) how SE keeps slipping up on the basic things, never mind the built-in FM receiver or the design decision to totally cripple the camera at least they could have ensured that their Walkman flagship was really really loud without losing out on sound quality.

Errr... isn't really really loud bad for your hearing? Or are you still at the 'young and invincible stage'?

As long as I don't miss a call, 70-something dB is loud enough for me besides, the manufacturers can only do so much with those tiny speakers. A2DP and plugin accessories are the way to go for louder volumes anyway.

^ Hardly, I'm at the old and almost deaf age
That's why I need a loud phone so that I don't miss a call.

Looks like a nice clamshell, I think its good there moving away from the design of the W950/60 I think they need to be killed off slightly, shouldn’t the Walkmans be more about.... being like walkmans rather than smart phones

From the link that willo posted:

"But the W980 offers still more! Connect to the internet at broadband speeds with HSDPA, capture every move with its 3.2MP camera and feel your way around the touch display with ease with tactile feedback function."

Ummm... touch display? Did I miss something or have SE snuck in a feature we weren't expecting?

A quick question about this (and the other Walkman phones)...

Do these support protected WMA files? Eg. from Napster. The Nokia N series do and that's currently the deciding feature between this and the N78 (when they both come out).

Cheers.

Its probably those buttons on the outside that light up differently.

Yes, they meant that..... you can understand it also by the "tactile feedback" that those keys have....

And....yes, it supports protected files, so it should also support the WMA files....
