I don't think Wifi and A/F is important enough to me to overcome the fact that this W980 is a great looking, heavily featured phone and considering that high end SE clams are VERY RARE could make this a future classic, possibly the first since the W900.
I agree. Clamshells are rare within SE. I remember my first, the Z600i. I had to have that phone. And the V800/Z800... Man did I want one, but I couldn't afford it. Since those two phones, no clamshell by SE has come close in terms of being high-end and fully featured. This W980 reminds me so much of the Z800. Its high-end and excellent looking. Future Classic? I'm sure of it.
And to those who argue its not high-end, who says a camera decides if a phone is high-end? Its a phone, not a camera, and its a phone aimed at the music market, not imaging.

yes it is true.
dont see it as a big problem though, barely any phones have this feature.
But wasnt this one of the most talked about features of this phone? This was the only one true 'new' feature SE introduced.

And this is a masculine phone like the V800/Z800, unlike the Z300 and Z610, and more leading edge than the conservative Z710/W710 twins which had EDGE but no 3G. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the closest Nokia have to this is the eccentric 7390 which may have been discontinued.

Not long till this is released now.Upgrade is due next week so i'll certainly be saving it until the W980 is released.Had enough of the cybershot range.None have me wanting to keep them since the K800 came out.No FM transmitter doesn't bother me either as i have a No Holes bracket from www.dashmount.co.uk fitted to my car and also the Sony Ericsson universal car holder (HCE- something) fitted to it as well as the Sony Ericsson music cable (3mm jack on one end) to plug into my cars headunit.Add A2DP and its all compatible with all my equipment :D

Don't mess that up: It has the transmitter. It misses the integrated FM radio antenna. |

Must have read the other posts wrong. I thought it was the transmitter that had been removed not the antenna. So its the same as the current phones if you want to use the radio you gotta put the headphones in.Still don't bother me though as the Sony Ericsson music cable sorts that out without the need for the headphones and I can plug the phone into the Sony Ericsson bluetooth speaker if i want radio or simply plug in my Sony Ericsson Walkman speakers as they also enable the radio. So still either way it don't bother me none plus i can easily listen to radio in the car with the headunit lol

Nice review overall, I hope the camera improves in the retail version. They didn't say much about HSDPA download speeds, but I like the look of that Netfront 3.4 browser.

Features nice on this phone but i hate the design. Not really into clamshells and SonyEricsson has never really ever got it spot on with clamshells in my opinion. It looks nice when closed but nasty when open and whats with the camera position. |
