Just a quick question as I'm getting one of these on Wednesday hopefully and have read slightly conflicting reports - how does the signal strength of the X1 compare to other mobiles? Where I work the buildings seem to block a lot of mobile signals, my current P1i is pretty good compared to my Touch Diamond and other phones, would the X1's signal strength/RF performance be similar to the P1i's?

@sammy_boy
keep in mind metal tend to be worse with reception compared to plastic

Mind you the P1i has a metal front casing and does well with signal, though the X1 has more on it I believe?
Just hoping I get a similar reception on the X1 as I do on the P1i at work! Might have to have the P1 as my 'work' phone otherwise!

X1 is in fact - IMO - very good device. HTC has a shitty screen compared to SE,
I mean really worse.
That's really subjective - the HTC's is arguably more readable since it's not trying to squeeze such high resolution into such a small space, and text and graphics etc are more appropriately sized (IMHO).
For the Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2 they've gone to the same resolution as the X1 it's true, but they've also upped the screen size to 3.2", making it a lot more usable.
Also TP is worse build than X1, especially slider mechanism which is much worse at HTC too.
Here's a Google on Xperia crack:

I agree some X1 had built problems.
Mine is from December 2008 (or even earlier), no cracks.
As for screen - well, ok, it is a preference thing.
I love the fact X1 shows so much txt on screen, I hate those oversized menus/letters,
covering the whole screen.

If you have an x1 can you upgrade it to the latest windows? |

Apparently X1 build quality not quite so awesome as my brother's slider mech has broken after 7mths business use. In my personal view they're both WM so meh, get whichever cheaper - it's a generic platform basically. |

How does anyone distinguish from build quality issues and plain old poor phone care? |

Can we get this right for once, the X1 is not such a great phone, ive read with interest Domistrys comments, but he is blinkered to its faults, there are so many better phones out there, although of course ''better'' is a matter of opinion, but, the X1 has issues that SE never seem to have got on top of, finding a quality multi-function, business phone, with camera, windows mobile, and all the other features we require, is no longer a matter of sticking with our favorite manufacturer, look at the alternatives, xda-developers are a good starting point, SE are not the STARS they once were.
GOOD LUCK. |

Well but which are better for you?
Just say it.
I've chosen X1 and as I was really critical, I found it great.
Nothing new is making me get it ASAP. New devices do not perform a cruical change or jump,
no HTC which does really anything new.
As I wrote - we have requirements, personal,
so for what I do etc. it serves better than well.
And sure it has flaws, but there's nothing without it.
I read a lot of reviews and all the new "stars" also perform serious shotcomings.
That's it.

Agree with Doministry, I don't see anything new that can replace my X1. And after 7-8 months of usage I am more and more satisfied, simply amazing phone with super apps. Probably X2 will be my next choice:-) |

I'd say similar. X2 probably, however
it's to be seen what Windows 6.5 will show,
for now I have a really mixed emotions about it's UI.
