I've lost my w950i and I know it's been stolen!
I've asked Airtel to bar the SIM, but the miscreant can still use the cell- the SE helpline and Airtel both deny that IMEI could be used to block the phone.
They also ask to contact each other if pressed further............ does ANYONE out there (from India) know if blocking a phone with IMEI can really be done without an FIR?

Afaik, blocking a phone thru imei is not possible in india as such...
You can request your operator (show him proof of purchase and fir) to trace that phone (you NEED to have some acquaintance in the telephone dept.) thru imei and then get it back... My friend successfully traced his phone twice, some months back (cost him many bucks though, each instance)...
