All:
I'm a SE W580i user in the US. And I'm having a problem with my phone's available memory on an M2 250 MB stick.
Example:
I recode an .avi file to MP4 using the M3 software on my PC.
The output files total 209 MB (per Windows XP).
Under 'phone status' I'm shown 'Memory Stick: 232 MB free'. So the recoded files should all fit, right?
However, they do not. I cannot copy all of my MP4 files to the device.
Once I copy the 168 MB that does fit, the phone indicates 62 MB free; but wil not accept any additional data, giving me an error message 'cannot find sector' or something similar (I'm assuming this means the files wont fit).
I believe that somehow the available space on my memory stick (or the MP4 file size) is being mis-reported.
The confusing part is that both Windows and my phone report the same amount of free space on the memory stick.
Is this a known issue?
Is the software actually creating larger files than indicated?
Is the phone incorrect?
What am I missing here?
I'm new to SE, MP4 files and the M3 encoding software, can anyone assist me in inderstanding what's going on? I'd like to be able to use the 'free space' I've paid for.
I did want to upgrade to a 4GB memory stick, but if only part of it will be available for data I'd like to know!
Any reply is greatly appreciated in advance,
Tom
