how do I disable GPRS/3.5G/EDGE on K850i? |

anybody knows how to do this? I see a small G icon on the screen and I think its eating my battery. I'm on A037 so firmware isn't the issue. I do not use email, internet or any other data services except for sms. I dont care about mms too coz I dont use it. Want to see if it will make a difference to the battery performance.
Thanks in advance! |

You can't do that.. only to disable is 3G.. If you want to do it, then use flightmode. I think the problem is you can even call with the phone...

in flight mode you can't make and receive calls and messages...
Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Mobile Network > GSM/3G networks > GSM only
this way you should disable 3G.. but not EDGE

there's no way u can turn edge or gprs off, unless you require your telko operator to do so

You can't turn EDGE/GRPS off per say, but you can tell the phone to only use it when necessary instead of always looking for a GPRS signal. It saves some battery life, too.
Settings -> Connectivity -> Data comm -> Preferred Service -> Set to CS Only. |

Hmm, i'm sorry. What I posted appears to only exist on A100 platform phones. I checked the SE K850i simulator and that option no longer exists. Under "internet settings", there is an option for "allow local connection" that MIGHT do the same thing, but I have no way of knowing. Or perhaps the A200 phones no longer always connect to PS data? |
