when im taking pictures using flash, the images in background are so dark? is there a reason?

im noticed about the light sensor issue, dont think its related to that.

please help out...

pictures taken without flash are even brighter than the pictures taken with the xenon flash...

anyone has the same problems?

Yes, it has a reason.

when flash is enabled, camera will use a hard coded shutter speed and because it's fast (usually 1/60) background will be dark.

EDIT:

apparently for K850i, it's 1/250 seconds.

i found this, maybe helpful:

Flash photography – “how-to” on using flash in photography
