well now that im about to start uni and i totally jibbed myself for buying the k550
(not saying that it was a bad choice - its a great phone)
i do need a phone with stylus, hand writing recognition, wifi etc,,
as my laptop wont be mine anymore ill be repairing my pc and giving this baby away

the phones i have in mind and will do fine with my budget is the p1i or the Fic Neo1973 (the new, freed, linux based os phone).

what i need to know (about the p1)are these important things:

*can i link this phone with my soon to be wireless home network AND uni network (i assume soo since it has wifi/wlan)?

*hows the camera lol ?

*hows the keypad (i read gsmarenas review quickly) does it take long to get used to?

*it can edit word, excel - office formats? (i assume again, since it has an Office applications)(yes ive heard of documents to go,,is it better then the office app?)

*build quality? (..seems quite nice looking and well built)

and my final and most important

*battery life? how long does it last with 3g on? with 3g off? AND more important flight mode? for me, it at least has to last for 2days and at the end of the 2nd day ill have to charge it(my hope)..and in flight mode ii hope it lasts quite abit longer..

anyways those are my question for now i hope to get this phone in the next 2 weeks:)
thanks and much appreciated all:)

*can i link this phone with my soon to be wireless home network AND uni network (i assume soo since it has wifi/wlan)?

-You can connect to a WIFI network without problems. You can even access files on a computer over WIFI (need some software). We have "eduroam" WIFI network on uni but as I read on the internetz you can't connect to it because of the certificat or something similar.

*hows the camera lol ?

-Camera is pretty good. For a phone. What bothers me most is the picture refresh speed and slow autofocus when you have low light. That came in with the latest firmware release (?). There are also some complaints about green tint color on taken pictures but I haven't seen that on my phone.

*hows the keypad (i read gsmarenas review quickly) does it take long to get used to?

-Keypad works great for me. If you are used to a computer keyboard then you won't have any problems adjusting to this keypad. But it takes some time to really type quickly.

*it can edit word, excel - office formats? (i assume again, since it has an Office applications)(yes ive heard of documents to go,,is it better then the office app?)

-Yes. And yes, DocumentsToGo is way better.

*build quality? (..seems quite nice looking and well built)

-Very good. It doesn't feel that the phone will fall apart in your hands. IMO rock solid. But the screen and the back battery cover gets dirty really quickly:)

*battery life? how long does it last with 3g on? with 3g off? AND more important flight mode? for me, it at least has to last for 2days and at the end of the 2nd day ill have to charge it(my hope)..and in flight mode ii hope it lasts quite abit longer..

-I don't use 3g and with my usage the phone lasts for about 3 days always on and no flight mode. BTW, Flight mode consumes really really little battery. Overall very satisfied with battery life.

Maybe the phone is a bit slow on the software side (reading or sending sms for example) even with apps running in the background and it has some minor bugs but overall I'm very satisfied with this phone.

P1i mate, you can't go wrong, i have had back to back with P1i and never regrett, it only lost to W960i due to my personal liking, but IMO, P1i is just great! not a problem with the semi QWERTY keyboard, u get used to in no time

P1i is the best phone I've ever had. Currently have an E61i for work as well and it's hopeless compared to the P1i. The only thing that the E61i gains is battery life. Not that my P1i is a slouch for battery life. I can generally get about 3 days out of my battery.

As for the keypad, you really do get used to it. I find typing a joy on it now.

well i dont always answer..well maybe i do but id rather verify things and ask people for their experience with particular products before i go ahead and buy it..
HTC TyTN II is all good - i would go for it - if
it was in my budget,
weighed a little less(dont matter too much),
and had a2dp(dont matter too much either).

ALSO,as i said my other choice would've been a fic neo1973
if you want more information about that phone - which is going to be hella awesome goto the link/thread below then select the links i have provided:)

@Dark

The TyTN II supports a2dp.

The only problem with this device is the video driver and that's it.

I own both devices and still love my P1i, but mostly for its design.

Other than the crappy video drivers the tytn 2 beats the p1i and anything out there almost in every aspect.

It's simply the best device you can get in these days...
