PLease advise hoe can i use the Sony ericsson K810i in Newzealand and Australia. I will be in those countries for atleast 8 months.
Do I need to contact any Sonyericsson units to unlock phone for international use?

Hi there!
From the http://www.vodafone.co.nz website:
Visiting New Zealand?
Haere mai! Welcome to New Zealand!
Vodafone New Zealand operates the only GSM network in New Zealand, and we have GSM, GPRS, UMTS and HSDPA services available.
Please ensure you activate Global Roaming with your home network before you leave, to ensure you can connect to our network when you arrive.
Visiting us regularly?
If you visit New Zealand regularly, why not buy a Vodafone New Zealand Prepay SIM card? You can almost certainly use it in your existing mobile, and it will cost much less than paying for roaming charges.
To make sure callers can reach you, just record a new voiceMail message asking them to contact you on your alternative number until your return, or divert all your calls to the new number. When you return, swap the SIM cards again, and reverse your message or callForwarding.
The staff at any Vodafone store will be happy to help you.
Before you buy a new SIM, ask the store staff to check that a Vodafone New Zealand SIM card will work in your mobile.
International calling on VodafoneNZ NZ$2.00 for 60min
You can get a Prepay SIM card from the airport on arrival for about NZ$35. It'll be automatically set to Supa Prepay which is quite good if your staying with someone in NZ who is also on Vodafone, but if you want a different Prepay plan make sure you tell the Vodafone storeperson or call 777 on the new SIM. You'll need an unlocked phone for a VodafoneNZ SIM to work. Otherwise they'll try and sell you a NZ-spec phone. The K810i was never available officially here so don't think you'll be exposed to a wide range of phones you've never seen before. Just the opposite infact!
A VodafoneNZ SIM will work through much of the pacific automatically but extra costs for roaming will apply. Also, casual data rates can be expensive if you want to do more than email text. Its all on the website.
Enjoy your trip! Where are you visiting BTW?
