CDA information |

Hi,
I have a doubt about CDA. I'm thinking about upgrading the firmware of my k800 to k810. I already have the firmwares and FS needed. My doubt lies with the CDA information. I've looked on the internet for the correct CDA for my phone and it only exists for k800 and not for the k810 (CDA102511/19 R10A), which is for TMN, Portugal. I believe this is because TMN never sold the K810.
Can I use the CDA from k800 on a K810 firmware? Does the CDA file come with the correct configuration for the network, like SMS, MMS, internet configs, etc? If not, is there a way to backup the phone configuration?
Thanks

So, flashing doesn't remove all those settings? In that case what is the purpose of the CDA file? |

CDA is for phone language purpose and some setting (if branded). So if your phone is branded in particular region then it will be given the specific CDA. Let say a country has x and y network that sell SE with contract and subsidized the price of the phone. Both will be having their own CDA.
If your phone is generic let say for South East Asia you will get same CDA for Indo, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, etc.
The gprs and MMS setting will be wipe out if you flash using XS++. SMS setting is not. But SMS itself that you received/send and contact number that you have will be wipeout as well. If using SEUS all setting and contact is intact. That is my experience. However it may depend on your network so your result may vary.

So would it be fine to use a specific CDA file for my network, but from a k800 and not a k810? It's just that such file does not exist for the k810.
What would happen if I put in a generic CDA for my region (Europe1?)? Would my SIM not work or would I have some form of trouble with the network, being the phone itself is locked?
Thanks for all the answers so far! |

there are a lot of cda files for k810 ... for example . i used :
K810_R8BA024_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52
K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED52
to flash my k800 to k810 ... and the cda file used was : K810i_CDA102568_11_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_2_without_pw

So, using a generic CDA, but specific for your region, would work just fine. In that case, the only thing lost would be the Network Provider specific alterations, like special icons for their own internet service and useless stuff like that?
Using a generic CDA file would just debrand the phone and not make any problems with the phone locking to the network?
Thanks again. |

So, did you use a K800 CDA file on a K810?
If, instead of using a generic CDA file, I use a specific CDA file, I won't have to configure anything, right?
Thanks for the replies. |

i have a proper k810i (not a k800i) and i used k810i custom files for it. i also have a k800@k810 with the k810i r8ba024 main and k800i r8ba024 FS and k800 custom files

So, only the firmware needs to be from a K810, FS and CDA can be from K800 and they work together fine?

I think you misunderstood my post. What I write is for the same model. It is not advisable to use firmware from other model. It MAY work like using K810 firmware on K800 model with few limitation but there is no guarantee and void phone warranty.
I have yet to find anyone who flash K810 with K800 firmware (most seems to do the oposite to gain track ID and add camera feature that I don't remember the name). Edit: Except Gaming Guy there. Which I may ask what it is in the K800 FS that is not in K810 FS?
I think you may want to use the generic firmware if yours is not available. For example if you are with x network in German and you can't find that same CDA with your phone, then you may want to flash your phone with Generic Firmware that contain German language. It use GENERIC_MAIN and EUROPEx_FS (I don't remember the x number that contain German language).
So I think it is better to find the Generic firmware in your area than to use other model firmware. But yes you may lost specific icon, etc, etc.
Why do you flash your firmware anyway. If you are doing just for the sake of upgrade then I think just wait until your CDA firmware is available.

I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't too explicit. I have a k800, that I want to upgrade to k810 R8 firmware, with appropriate K810 FS. My problem is that the specific CDA file I need, doesn't exist for k810 , I can find it only for k800 (because my network never sold the k810).
My question would be if I can upgrade my k800 to k810 firmware and FS but use a CDA file from k800. If it's just a network configuration file, I don't believe it should cause any problem.
The purpose would be, first for upgrade sake, second to install modifications that are way more abundant for k810 than k800. Although now, I'm a bit intrigued by the new R8 firmware released for k800. We'll see. For now I'm just analyzing possibilities.

Sorry I got you wrong. Yeah you can flash your K800 with K810 firmware from other CDA. Go to flashing K800 with K810 thread. There are few issues that can be minimized by patching.
SE usually only fix bug in new firmware. So if you are hoping new K800 firmware will give new functionality then it won't happen. |
