Hi there. i've got a w960 locked on vodafone and i got the unlock code from them. In the email it says "Press the left direction key in the centre of the handset, then press the * key twice and then the left direction key once more.".

This is after you turn the phone on without the sim card.

there is no left direction key so i;m assuming the scroll wheel. but when i do this it just says "Me depersonalised" and it doesn't show the next screen to enter the code.

Does anyone know how to do this?

try using the scroll wheel one click up, * twice, one click up.

If that doesn't work do scroll down instead.

Do all this on the homescreen with sim inserted.

Ok I've found the menu.
There are three options, network, network subset, and SIM. the instruction say to choose network, but then it asks to select the MNC length. options are MNC2 and MNC3.

I've tried entering the code with both of these and it says incorrect code.

(attempts left 3).

one interesting thing i just noticed, when i press up*down down * down * (to get to the service menu), under service information >simlocks, there are three things
Network 3
Network Subset 5
SIM 5
all have an UNLOCKED padlock next to them. but it's defaintely not accepting any other sim cards apart from vodafone.

I've e-mailed vodafone and waiting for a reply from them.

Startup the handset with the simcard that you want to use(i.e: not a Voda one) in it. The phone should then tell you that it is locked, and SHOULD offer you an option to then enter the NUC(which is 16/17digits, correct??)......

The sim card i tried it with was the one that i want to use (i.e. not vodafone).

the w960 doesn't ask for the code, it just says invalid simcard. when i reach the limit times i can enter the code, will the phone just stay locked to vodafone or will it block vodafone sims as well?

Did you try entering the code?
If you were successful it should restart the device if it has accepted the code.

If you enter the code wrong more than three times then you can only unlock it if you send vodafone the phone. but you can still use a vodafone sim

How did you find the menu?

I still get the "ME Depersonalised" message!

Thanks.
