The camera in my wife's K770i just died. When the lens cover is opened, the display first displays the standard "opening camera" message and then it only displays a black panel. I have tried all standard tricks, like removing battery and master reset of the phone, but I guess thare is nothing else to do than visiting a service centre. Luckily, It's only 2 months old. |

imo, it's something related to the camera flex. as you are under warranty then use it

Here's an update: We took it to a "3" store, where it was bought, and we were offered to leave it there for service. It should take approx. 10 days to fix it, and we were not offered a replacement phone during the service time, (and not a new phone either). An alternative would be to visit another, more advanced "3" representative, where they could perform a software upgrade while we waited. We decided for the second option, but there was no time for that at the time. When we got home, I tried to go to the menu and select the phone icon there, instead of simply opening the camera lens cover. I then got the message "Open the camera lens cover", which I did, and then, voilá! the camera was functioning again.
Really strange behaviour, and it seems like a software problem. Unfortunately, "3" has, in their infinite wisdom, when they have branded the phone beyound recognition, removed the software upgrade menu alternative, so I cannot upgrade the phone OTA myself. Eventually, we will visit that "3" store to get the firmware upgraded, or even better, have the phone de-branded. |
