Haven't been keeping up on the latest and greatest and the Mrs's k800i is in need of a replacement. As in the title have SE released a decent clam yet? Decent as in good, cam/screen etc If not any rumoured/close to release?
I ain't holding my breath tbh as they don't seem interested in that segment

They prolly won't both with the Z750 over here, no need with Z610i still doing ok on Three and Orange on prepay.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |

I though Z800/V800 was better than Z1010? I miss my V800.
I've been looking at clams for my missus too. So far this is leading, the Z610 is running second.
Coming soon - Z555i.
1.3 Mp camera, A2DP, EDGE, available in black also.

Sadly only the Z750 was the highest spec'd SE Clamshell at the moment. seems like SE is abandoning the Z-series which gave them so much respect due to some high-end and awardee phones from that index i.e. Z800/V800. SE should consider giving us some good clamshells |

Agree with you that SE should give us at least 1 high speced clamshell phone like the Z/V800. |

I'd like to see some high spec clams too, however high spec has little to do with what my wife likes. Her opinion of the Samsung Z400v she currently has is that it looks too masculine The Z555i and Z610i appeal much more. She'd still be using the Z600 if the battery hadn't died and the hinge got very loose.

Thanks for al lthe input
The most important thing is the cam really, size/colour is second lol She really wanted a clam but it doesn't look like that will happen really. Had a look at a z610 in town and first impressions ok but I'm thinking the cam is poor in comparison. AF really makes a difference and not many SE phones have it unfortunately.....especially midrange (if any?)
Looks like it's between the w910 and the z610 now, possible the z750 if I can see any. |

Z800 whips Z1010 by a mile......
And unfortunately, SE seem to be concentrating on sliders these days, only Japan gets decent clamshells(which is of course where Z800 came from in the first place(Japan wouldn't take Z1010, too archaic/unreliable))......

Z710 was my fav closely followed by the Z800.
I used to switch between my Z710 and my K800 when I fancied a change. The only real differences between the two are screen size (Z710 has QCIF screen) and the camera (Z710 only has 2.0 mp non-autofocus camera, but is great for quick point and shoot shots).
I loved having the external screen on the Z710 and the Z800 and I wish SE would make a QVGA version of the Z710 with a 256-colour external screen. That would be heaven. Although, I'd find it hard to give up my W960 at the moment! |

Has anyone noticed how clamshells seem to be on the decline especially since sliders came about. Even Samsun seem to not make them much now i never liked clamshells never will just dont like that sort of design. Only Motorola seem to be keeping them going.

I like clamshells for a change. But I find that the better designed handsets tend to be candybar ones, especially with SE. The last flip phone that SE produce that I truly liked was the Z800 which looked amazing.
In my opinion phones like the Z555i, W380i all look half-finished and plain. And definitely no wow factor or high-techness about them.
Phones like the Z610i or Z520i look too feminine and rounded, and I feel they begin to look old far too quickly. Like their design doesn't last.
