Dont worry
I recon they will come out with a even better phone soon.
I spoke to a gey at ericsson and he confirmed
thet this was a prototype.
He said they had some more prototypes that they did'nt show and that the plan was to take the best from each phone and make it inn to one amazing one.
Let's hope they do soon, looks very cool.

Barry I hope you are right; the only reason right now I will not buy a Nokia 7650 is that it is not triband.
I hope Ericsson makes the 7650 Killer a production model becasue it looks great.
Any idea when the new models will come out? |

No sorry didnt get a date but i'll let you know straight away.
I'm not to sure about the 7650 tough...
I work in a mobileshop so i can get it pritty cheap. But i don'nt think i will, rather wait for the new Ericsson.
The thing is as well, T68 has had some SW problems and has had 4 diffrent upgrades (i think) since it came out. (normal)
I can garanti You that the 7650 will need this to, probebly more (Nokia...)
So all in all i think we T68 owners have done a very good bey
Hope this helped.

Yes don't worry. Nokia might be good phones when advirtised or on the stores' showroom, but when you ge one on your hands you can understand the difference! My friend has one 8310 newer than my T68 and it looks like 1 year old. Believe me, he is very carefull with such things! It is Nokia's poor design/manufacture responsible for that and not my friend. I am not sure, but I don't believe that I will buy Nokia again, at least to the near future!

I run the site that is quoted in the start of this thread. I saw all the people coming in from this site and decided to check it out.
In any event, don't be so hard on Nokia. While they are generally technically inferior to Ericsson, the know what people want.
And outside of the notorius 6210, they don't have major problems with build quality. And one could just as easily point to the T28 as being a nightmare of a product, if you want to talk about frequent failures....
Anyway, back on topic. There has been recent talk of a delay in the 7650 release because of a color version of the 8300 series - meant to go head to head with the T68.
In any event, the 7650 is likely to be a winner. The 9210 has been very good to Nokia, and the 7650 will be running quite a similar version of the Epoc OS. Nokia will also have the advanatage of having worked out most of the OS bugs in the 9210 (which is still a great phone, even if it is a brick).

Michael > I do believe you're right about the 7650 being a good performer.
But I dont think the "common people" will buy it,..they would rather have a smaller device,..like e.g. 8310 colorscreen version.
The 7650 has got a lot of very good features, but I also believe its aimed at certain users,..someone who could actually use all the features.
Maybe someone that werent to keen on the 9210, they would get the more stylish 7650.
And I also believe we will see more of these specialized phones,..mixes of pda, camera, mp3 in the future.
I find it very hard to be objective, if one allways "compares everything".
One should look at them individually.
And I dont care what name-tag are on them. One can be as good as the other
Personally I dont know what my next phone will be,..and I'm quite happy about that.
One thing I find important when buying a new phone, is the service-part. Some companies are quite good,..some are not.

Jh,
You took the words out of my mouth. The bottom line when, its not if, but when, we get tired of our T68's is the best phone available at that time. If its an Ericsson or Nokia it doesn't matter becasue they are equal substitutes in the mobile phone market. If Nokia come out with a triband phone, with color screen and camera and Ericsson does not, then I will consider buying that phone.
The real issue is when Ericsson and Nokia have phones that are similar on the market what we will do.
The point i am trying to make, is that the T68 is really the first of its kind and this is why we are all here discussing the merits of the phone.
Now that Ericsson has broken the mold, Nokia, Motorola, Simens, Samsung and the rest will follow in suit and make some remarkable handsets. Hoepfully our carriers will keep up with them. |

I have thought about something concerning the 7650. Nokia usually makes a model for the US-market as well as the 900/1800 models. My guess would be, that the 7650 would come in a 7690 model.
---------------------------------------
I dont believe Nokia's quality is that bad. I've had quite a few Nokias, and they werent actually falling apart
I do know that some of them are "bad-quality".
My guess is that Nokia has the same effect on some people, as Microsoft have,..hehe.
Basically the reasons are the size of the company,..they sell a lot,..and everybody is using them !
And some are just having bad experiences with the phones, services and so on.
Nokia service sucks in Denmark,..one of my main-reasons for not getting one.
The other reason is that they dont listing to what people say/suggest/critisize,
...thats what Ericsson was like some time ago,..Nokia should have learned from that !
That could very well be my reasons for not buying Nokia.
And I do hope too, that will show some neat new phones on Cebit
