I've always liked Jabra best of all headsets, so after my JX-10 stopped holding a charge, I eagerly replaced it with a BT8040.

http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/NA-US/products/Pages/JabraBT8040.aspx

I've been using mine for an hour now and discovered that voice dialing does not work correctly. When I hit the voice dialing on the headset, the phone says to say the name after the tone... and sits there waiting forever and ever without a tone being sounded. It doesn't give up, either, it just waits.

Jabra claims this is compatible with the K800i; the K790a is nearly identical. (Differences are no front camera, no 3G, and 850 MHz instead of 900 MHz.)

It's possible the headset is defective and/or incompatible, but I need to explore the possibility of issues on the phone itself. Any ideas?

PS: I'll try the BT8040 some more over the weekend, but if I can't resolve this, it's going back and I'm buying the JX-10 II. I know that one works, assuming Series II is like Series I (which was flawless with my older phones - T737, S710a, etc.).

It's clearly a K790/K800 problem. Jabara just replaced my BT8040, and the new one has the same problem. With my S710a, the same headset works perfectly.

Also, other headsets work 100% with my K790a. I've so far tried the Motorola H700 and Aliph Jawbone with complete success. The packed-in wired headset is also perfect.

What the hell? Jabra's headsets always used to be perfectly compatible with phones.
