Hi guys.
Been using the canon eos 350D for a while until I accidentally dropped it and damaged it 2 days ago.
Now I'm in the market for a dslr and the two that I've decided to pick one from are the canon 400D and the nikon D80. Can those who own either or both of these cameras help me out and tell me how they rate them? Thanks a million. |

Nikon D80 for me the ergonomics are better than in 400D. other than that they're almost similar

Personally I prefer the Canon. The Canon is cheaper than the Nikon as well. The Eos 30D is a similar price at the monet too. It has a few less megapixels but from what I have seen the pictures are as good as the Eos 400D and has more settings. You can also use you current lenses from you Eos350 on the Canons

Nikon here. They seem to have more buffer, might not be the case for these two though. By buffer i mean how many images you can take continuously, not per second though, there nikon and canon have the same speed. |

Ha ha ha!
A stalemate already? Razec, could you please explain further on your response- thanks. @jcwhite_uk- you just mentioned the important points right there,ie, price (not that it is a deciding factor in this case) and the interchangeable lense considering that my 350D lense still functions. For me though the most important aspect here is the picture quality at those 10mp modules. The 350D at 8mp was brilliant so I need something better.
It's not what you do or even how you do it but in what state of mind you do it: Dups! 2009 |

rumors i heard in December were that it would be announced on the 21st Jan 2008.
basically the same specs as the 400D, but with face recognition, larger display, and a few other tweeks

im thinking of upgrading to the D40, i dont think the rumored specs about the 450 aint really significant enough to make me wait.
