After being pissed-off for a week with the T300 and the fact that one cannot delete factory-installed items, I went out and bought a brand new T68 which had been turned into T68i. It had R2E software and had not been used for a single minute. I bought it fot 270 Euros (which I thought was a good deal) and I rushed to upgrade it to R6A012. And guesss what??? Oh horror of all horrors!!...you CANNOT delete the factory items. It appears that they are deleted, but no memory is freed up, and after a master reset all 57 stupid SE icons (252 KB) reappear just like in the T300. You can permanently delete the incoming MMS's but the 2 prototype ones (35KB) cannot go away either! Total really free memory is 771KB. It leads me to assume that new T68i's with R6A will be stuck with these items forever. Anyone who wants to upgrade to R6A should delete all factory items, otherwise they will probably be recognized to be of SE origin and will become permanent!!!

I agree it's a good thing that they were restored after the upgread, but it's stuped and pointless, not to allow people to delete factory defaults
THnks for the info 2 bad i sent my phone for an upgread and they just called me tp collect it, hopefully it isn't the case with all

I've recently successfully flashed my T68i by myself from R5C001 to R5D007. I've only had it for just over 2months now so it's still under warranty with SonyEricsson.

How long does it take, roughly, for them to get the phone back to you if send it off? (Yes I'm in the UK and live in the South East )

All the SE-installed pictures and MMS templates that you haven't gotten rid of yet, and which you do not wish to become permanent.

are you sure? Since I have R5d now, if I upgrade to R6a, would I lose all my backgrounds and ringtones etc ? and the pre-installed backgrounds are back??? Any other person with R6a confirm please !

When you upgrade you should request that they do not perform a master reset before or after the upgrade. It is only then that you lose your own items. The factory-installed items will not reapper if you have erased them from any T68i with any version other than the R6A. The problem occurs if the preinstalled items are in your device when you begin the upgrading.

@arnoldc: The SE pics take up 242KB. The indicated size of some is wrong; eg. the Beach is labeled as 2KB but when you transfer it to another phone it turns out to be 9KB! So, if the 57 SE pics are 242KB, the SE themes are 55, the SE tones are 4, and your free mem is 900, then your T68 has a memory of over 1200KB, which is impossible! This means that if all the SE pics are in your phone, then your free mem cannot be 900KB. Something is wrong!
