Really bad mp3 k810 bug. |

Hi all,
as some of you know, I bought a k800 real cheap then converted it to a k810 for a back up phone. All seemed well. I had a 2gb m2 looming around and put it in the phone, and downloaded one of Guns N Roses album of Limewire (the songs them selves) and a few other artists. This bug is really annoying as I will explain.
On Limewire the files maybe something like Guns and Roses or Guns N Roses, Guns N' Roses etc. On my w800 I just renamed the files to something like Guns N Roses and had all my mp3s on that one folder. The bug is, although I have renamed all the files to one thing, when I go into the music player of the k810, it comes up with the Limewire titles, e.g Guns and Roses, Guns N Roses, or The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Red Hot Chili peppers. Its really annoying because it takes a hell of a lot of space, and the music isnt organised, I dont know which song is in which file. I never had this problem on my w800. This is the first proper expiriance with the mp3 player of a sony ericsson since the w800 and it is very annoying.
When I go into the Music folder on file manager, all the files are correctly oranised and are the titles I renamed them are all correct. Its all labled that one perticuler artist, so I dont know why thats happening with the actual music player. If any one can tell me why this is happening and how I can fix this annoying thing, il really apreciate it.
Thanks! |

i guess that you must edit their tag id. remaning the file itself wont do anything. you must change their tags. i use to do it with winamp.

Oh man.. thats gonna take forever. That really is a stupid idea imo. The w800 was just a breaze. All you had to do is edit the folders names and that was it, now you have to edit all the tracks! Oh well.. |

yes the k810i mediaplayer reads the tag id, rather than the tunes name, it is annoying as alot of tunes of limeware etc, have incorrect or bad tad id information.
try this free tag id renaming programme

thanks for the links. Is the k810/k800 the only phones that read the id, or are all like this now? |

Hmm...Been there, done that, it took some time before everything was sorted out. I used Real Player to organize all files.
Open the the files in Real Player and see what info pops up about the files.
From there you have optons like edit tag, name, apply to existing media etc.
And while your on to those Mp3īs have a look here: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=162283

Actually, the whole tag renaming business can be done pretty fast on WMP11 or Vista itself. |

Your solution is MP3 Tag Assist Pro. It can change 100 songs' tags at once, if I am not mistaken.

You can change even 2000 tags at once, if you want. (in Vista, that is)
Just highlight the songs you want and then right click>Properties>Details and just edit the information - all at once. |

The good thing with Real Player is that you edit both ID3 tag and file name, for example, highlight all files in a album(or of one artist), edit ID3 tag (artist.album etc),then with all files highlighted, right click > change file name. That way all files will be sorted in folders, artist > album.
I use WMP11 for listening and transfer music back and forth to the phone, Real Player for editing

I use Audioshell tag editor. Once downloaded it adds an extra tab to the properties menu when you right click on an Mp3. You can change a whole batch of files at once and also embed the cover art onto the files as well.

you can also do it in itunes. just select a bunch of songs and change all their id tags at once. For example select all the songs of a particular artist, ricght click and get info, then change the artist field to what you want and it will change for all the songs selected.
As said WMP can do it, so can sonicstage, real player, the iriver music manager and probably just about any music library software on the planet. You can also get third party freeware utilities to batch edit id tags, even programs that can give id tags based on the filename (for example if the filename is "artist - songname.mp3" it will give those as the relevant id tags) or folder name (example if the songs is in \\album\\artist\\singname.mp3)
I know it's a bugger that walkman phones don't support folder structure for organising music, but tbh why not get your id tags straight anyway? There are other advantages in having accurate id tags.
