Slow transfer speed to the memory stick |

I have a W910i, with 2GB Sandisk memory stick micro to it.
I always choose the "Mass storage" / file tranfser-option when connecting the phone to the USB (you know, when the phone shuts itself down to dedicate itself to just file tranfsering) , and then drag'n'drop on my Windows XP from my music folder to the music folder on the memory stick.
The problem is that it's very slow. It takes in average 3-4 seconds to tranfser an .mp3 file that is about 4 megabytes. I thought USB could do much faster than that? I have all the latest drivers and everything for my Windows XP, and have a fairly decent computer. I know it's not my computers fault, because I have tried several computers. I had the same problem with my W880i.
What transfer speed is "normal"? It takes forever to transfer 2GB of data to my memory stick! |

usb file transfers are almost a bit slow. a fastest way to do the transfers is to get a cardreader.

not at all...
usb transfer rate is much higher than that (say 10 sec for 4MB)
i can achive that speed on my K800 and P990 file transfer mode
** i had the same problem with some cards on my K800 before but after changing the card under warranty it now transfers media with high speed.
(your mem card is faulty. try formating it. if doesn't work. change it)
@tranced
if your file transfer speed is about that your mem card is problematic too.
besides. check it on other computers (modern specs)-- the problem may be from your PC |

faulty or not transferring via card reader is MUCH faster than using the cable...

transfering via card reader is faster than cable. no doubt about that.
it should load for example 4MB in 5-6 secs
but with a faulty card this will be around 1-2 mins.
a had lots of problems with fake memory cards. |

Lesson I learnt from fake memory card purchases- Never buy memorycards that are cheaper than the normal market price range. It's cheaper (especially on the likes of eBay) for a reason and more often than not, it's because they're fakes from China. I'd say this is true 9/10 times, but hope is a funny thing because we keep hoping we fall under the lucky 1/10 and ultimately get screwed all over again. Speaking from a wealth of experience here

Nevermind, I used that little USB thing that came with the package, where you put your memory card in, and transferred that way, and the speed was very much faster. |
