Hello all, I just got my k810i yesterday and I have been playing with it a little today. I keep getting the feeling that the screen is not straight. Like it's been rotated a few millimeters to the left on the top. Are my eyes playing tricks on me or could that really be the problem. And, if it is, will the shop I bought it at exchange it? The phone works fine and I like it, but something seems askew.

Thanks.

I thought that this litlle problem was only on my k810! I've noticed exactly the same on mine! So it seems that it's on a factory assembling level, and we can't do much about it. Anyway I'm a little bit reliefed that I'm not the "unlucky" guy that bought the only "not perfect" phone! Don't worry my friend, that little thing isn't worth mentioning at all! Your k810 is still the best SE phone so far!

Depending on how significant it is, something like that could really bug me. My K810 doesn't have this problem so I would have thought you could get a replacement. Problem is if affects a large batch you might find the replacement has the same problem.

I did the best I could shooting with my k750i. It's difficult to see, but if you look at the left side of the screen, the inner black border is thinner at the top than the bottom. Like I said, it's a millimeter or so, but looking at the thing while I'm using it is enough to make me feel motion sick while I'm not moving after a few minutes.

It's under a shop warranty for a week and a year or two with SE as well. The shop said on the phone today that we should bring it in and they would decide if they would replace it or "repair" it. I really don't want them playing with it, so I'll either have them exchange it or i'll keep this one. It can't be that bad after a month or two. Can it?

Thanks.

It's definitely something you notice. At first, it just doesn't seem right. I showed it to the Mrs. and she says she sees it sometimes and other times she doesn't notice it. It bugs me, even if it's a little off. Because the frame around the screen is square and straight, it seems like more of a distraction because the screen itself is not straight.

Off to the shop tomorrow, I guess. I'll let you all know what they have to say.

Aloha.

i see it ok. i mean, if the screen is tilt(ed?) then they will re-align it.

Who is "they"? I don't want someone in the back of a phone shop aligning the screen on my brand new phone. It may be something I can live with, but after paying almost $300 US for a new phone, it would be nice if it was put together correctly in the first place. I'll just tilt my head when I use it.....

It looks OK to ME . . . maybe it has something to do with the THEME, that is, if you are using one [addsig]

I thought it was the theme too, but I've tried all that came with it. If you hold it in your hands, it just gives you the feeling that it's tilted to the left. It's more obvious on some screens than others. I can't get a good photo of it to show what I see. But, trust me, it's not straight.

impossible for screen to be tilted unless the 2 screws that hold the screen have not been fitted.
From the PIC it looks alrit, just look near the battery and signal strength.

Actually, it's not impossible. It may be how it was installed, it may be the way the framing is cut. Whatever it was, the shop changed it for a new one which does not have the same problem. Apparently, they saw the tilt too. Oddly though, the new screen doesn't seem quite as bright. Maybe SE tilted it to the left so it would be brighter. |-) I'm just glad I don't have tilt my head now to look at the thing, because it sure is pretty. :-0

I have the same crooked a$$ screen. For people who are as anal as I am about my shiny phone looking and functioning the way it should then its pretty annoying.

I talked to SE Service center and they said my only option is to mail the phone back...but it sounds like this is a bad batch of phones based on the posting dates....I want to open the phone up and see if maybe its just fitted wrong but the disassembly isnt exactly the same as K800 and I cant find a how to guide for the K810....

Anybody have any links on such a guide? Has anyone tried opening up the phone and checking to see if its just an installation error?
