Hi,

The screen on my SE W810i has cracked and needs replacing. A couple of ?'s though.

How easy is this to do?
Im very technical and do laptop repairs but cant see a way of opening up the phone.

What screens will fit?
e.g. will the k800i etc fit/work or does it have to be specifically for a W810i?

Cheers

Hi, if you're used to laptop repairs this should be a very easy fix! It should only take 5-10 minutes, all you need toolwise is a T6 Torx screwdriver and one of those plastic phone opening tools, both of which are cheaply available off Ebay. Oh, and a small Philips-headed jeweller's screwdriver to remove the two small screws that keep the back fascia/cover on.

Two screws are underneath the battery at the bottom of the phone, there are the two that hold the back fascia on, and when that's off there are two screws at the top of the phone's back. The phone will then come apart (with the help of the plastic opening tool - don't use a screwdriver or you'll damage your casing!) the LCD is simply unplugged via that connector about midway down the phone. Simply unplug the old screen, plug in the new screen and put the phone back together. Just be careful doing this, you don't want to damage any other ribbon cables like the camera one.

Oh, and it's only the W810i screen you can use, the K800i, W800i and K750i screens are inconpatible I'm afraid!

You should look for the W810i screens by themselves, which are also for sale.

Lots of people buy phones with broken screens and fix them up this way for a small profit.

The W800i screen I don't think will fit the W810i, it's a slightly different LCD. You'd need a W810i one, but they're only about £20 from Ebay.

W810 screen is unique... You have to look for a genuine screen for W810 and NO other model... It has a light sensor which controlls the brightness/contrast of the screen based on the light conditions you are in...

Check www.cnn.cn they should have display for W810 in case you want to change it yourself...
