can i fail an mot for not being able to open my boot?

Wouldn't think so mate!!
Regarding the spare, if it is only accesible through the boot as oppose to one mounted underneath! if you are carrying a spare and it has low tread or is punctured then you can fail, but if you ain't carrying one it ain't part of the test! point being if you can't get access to it you ain't carrying it so can't fail I think!

it my first mot . i got a free mot at kwick fit , are they any good? the spare is fine , the boot dose not work as some one tried to break in:(

Kwikfit sting you on the parts IMO, it depends on what condition your car is in, get an estimate BEFORE you have it MOT'd if anythings likely to show up.

Talk to the independant first?
Ask 'em if you will be failed on the broken bootlid. DO you know anyone that might be able to help you out from an ind. mot station?

well if i can get the lock from some where i could replace it myself. its just trying to get one this week.
it has been checked over and everything else looks ok just need to tighten up the breaks a little.

I would have thought that it would fail as they need to get into the boot check parts like the spare wheel (if it is in the boot)

in my MOT, they never check the boot.
Been 3 times now.
